Marathon Fleet Courier

Some of you may recall and/or have access to the Solomani and Aslan (Rats and Cats) book. In the Solomani section, there is a ship design for a Fleet Courier. I converted the Fleet Courier to TNE stats (I'll supply the unmodified stats at a later date). Below is a modified version of the Marathon class Fleet Courier for use in the new era. For my own Terran Pocket Empire campaign, the idea is that only the TL-14 bonded superdense hull was salvaged. The remainder of the equipment is TL-12 (the technology level to which Terra has recovered in my campaign).

The fledgling Terran Navy uses this modified Fleet Courier for a number of operations detailed below. I thought you might all enjoy this blast from the past MegaTraveller/TNE conversion, though. Have at!

The Marathon class Solomani Fleet Courier was originally designed to carry orders and news between task forces and their headquarters.

In the post-collapse era, the Terran Protectorate, one of many pocket empires scattered across the wilds, has modified the Fleet Courier for operation in the dangerous outbacks of space. Using recovered bonded superdense hulls, patched sporadically with molded superdense patches, the modified Marathon class makes the best out of recovered relic technology.

While the Terran Protectorate is unable to sustain the class' original TL-14 technology, the Marathon class has been refitted with TL-12 weapons technology fit to fight off small vampire ships and corsairs. In addition, its enhanced armor makes the modified Marathon class a hardy opponent in battle.

A 20-ton gig is attached by an external grapple to the ship's ventral surface. The gig is primarily used for port-of-call stops and courier missions to larger fleet starships that admit ship's boats in enclosed landing bays.
